My work as an artist began as collage, in cutting up and reassembling my own prints and etchings. I turned to painting my own raw material ; then to painting as a primary activity using elements of collage, and finally to large scale painting and small scale drawing.
I have looked at landscape, geology, quilts, rejected possessions, gardens, the planets, and cells for subject matter.
Hebrew texts have been a major source; at times, they simply provide a necessary spark.
My abiding interest, throughout, is in the coalescing and coming apart of fragments or particles, and in the repetitive mark; the irregular cut piece, the U shape, the dash, the circle. I will also use Hebrew letters in their dual role as carriers of meaning and simple marks on a page.
