Karis Takaki

I studied art and photography earning a BA at the University of Colorado, painting and art history at the Art Institute of Florence (Italy) and received an MFA in photography from the University of Florida. I have worked in creative fields including marketing and experience design. After a long time away from making art, I am returning to the practice and have surrendered to the tactile, messy, and surprising nature of painting. The rebellious and magical nature of water and ink continue to challenge, confound, and delight me. I also explore mixed media, including collage and acrylic to bring moments of magic, memories, and dreams to life in the form of abstract, botanical and landscape paintings.
