Yvonne Duck is a sculptor, printmaker, and photographer. She began her creative career as a jewelry designer, where she owned and operated a jewelry design business for 10 years. More recently she has been drawn to working with larger scale mediums that require more physicality. Yvonne's work is inspired and informed by her love of nature and her passion for environmentalism and social justice. Yvonne claims the earth is her muse, and injustice her catalyst to create.
She often works with natural found elements and juxtaposes them against "man-made” objects. For Yvonne, this stark contrast exemplifies the human condition - the struggle between our humanness and society’s artificially imposed constraints. Through her work, she hopes to evoke conversation and curiosity, while also fostering social awareness and social change. She is an active member of Studio Montclair, West Essex Art Association, and Livingston Art Association. After teaching in the Belleville School System and Essex County College, she works in her studio at Manufacturer’s Village, East Orange, NJ.
